Former Super Eagles forward Brown Ideye is on the brink of joining Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Rivers United.
The experienced striker began training with the Port Harcourt-based club this week, with head coach Finidi George expressing optimism about the move.
“There’s a strong chance he’ll sign with us. What matters most is that he wants to give back,” Finidi stated. “He has the hunger we’ve seen in players like Ahmed Musa. If he’s ready to contribute, we’ll gladly welcome him.”
Ideye, a key member of the Super Eagles squad that clinched the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations title in South Africa, brings a wealth of experience from top European leagues. His career spans stints in France, Ukraine, England, Greece, and Switzerland.
If finalized, the move would mark Ideye’s return to Nigerian football, following a trend of veteran players coming back to contribute to the domestic league.
