Lagos State Government has ordered a postmortem examination into the deaths of nine-month-old identical twins, Testimony and Timothy Alozie, who reportedly died about a day after receiving routine immunisation at a primary healthcare centre in the state. The development follows public outrage triggered by emotional videos shared online by the twins’ father, Samuel Alozie, popularly known as Promise Samuel on TikTok.
According to the father’s account, the twins were taken for their scheduled immunisation on the morning of December 24, 2025. He said the babies were healthy before the visit and had consistently received all routine vaccines since birth without any complications. However, shortly after the injections were administered, he noticed a drastic change in their condition.
Alozie explained that both infants became unusually weak almost immediately after the immunisation. He said they stopped eating, playing, and showing their normal lively behaviour. Alarmed by their condition, he said he followed the advice given by a nurse at the health centre, who instructed that paracetamol should be administered if the babies developed a fever. He added that his wife also bathed the twins in cold water in an attempt to reduce their temperature.
Despite these efforts, the twins’ condition reportedly did not improve. Alozie said that by the morning of December 25, both children had died, describing the experience as devastating and confusing. He stressed that the twins died at the same time and that there had been no prior signs of illness before the immunisation visit.
In his viral videos, the grieving father questioned how a routine medical procedure meant to protect children could end in such tragedy. He expressed deep anguish over losing both children at once, noting the emotional and physical sacrifices he and his wife made to care for them since birth. He also rejected suggestions that the deaths may have been caused by food related issues, insisting that nothing about the twins’ feeding routine had changed.
Following the public attention generated by the incident, Lagos State health authorities confirmed that a full investigation has been launched. The state government ordered a postmortem to determine the actual cause of death and to establish whether the immunisation played any role in the tragedy. Officials said the investigation would be conducted alongside law-enforcement agencies and assured the public that the process would be thorough.
Health authorities also noted that routine vaccines administered at government facilities are used widely and are generally considered safe, but acknowledged that the outcome of the autopsy would be crucial in clarifying the circumstances surrounding the twins’ deaths. The bodies of the children have been deposited at a government-approved mortuary pending the completion of medical examinations.
As investigations continue, the incident has sparked renewed public conversation around vaccine safety, healthcare procedures, and accountability within public health institutions.
The Lagos State Government has urged the public to remain calm and avoid speculation until the postmortem results are concluded, while the bereaved family continues to seek answers and justice over the sudden loss of their children.
