Civil servants in Kogi State adhered to the directive issued by the Central Working Committee of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Tuesday.

Following the order for all workers to embark on a strike from midnight, a visit to the Kogi State Secretariat along Zone 8 road revealed a complete absence of workers on Tuesday morning. Only security personnel were present at the premises, and the doors of new-generation banks remained firmly closed, with security staff being the sole visible presence.

The State Chairman of NLC, Comrade Gabriel Amari, announced that starting from Wednesday, all banks in the state would be shut down, intensifying the impact of the strike on various sectors.

In contrast to Kogi State, Akure, Ondo State, displayed a different scenario.

Bank workers were observed continuing their duties, and customers were seen entering and exiting banks as if it were a regular business day. Additionally, visits to government parastatals indicated that they remained active and operational.

This contrast highlights the divergent responses to the labour directive, with Kogi State experiencing compliance resulting in significant disruptions, while Akure, Ondo State appears to maintain normalcy with many sectors continuing their operations unabated.
