Hundreds of commuters in in Lagos find themselves stranded at various bus stops and motor parks as commercial drivers stage a protest against the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Task Force on Monday.

Driven by their frustration over what they assert as ongoing extortion, commercial drivers have initiated a strike, plunging commuters into the repercussions of a significant reduction in commercial vehicles throughout the state.

The demonstration, which began early Monday, has disrupted normal transportation services, causing inconvenience for the public. Commuters are left waiting at bus stops and motor parks, uncertain about when normal services will resume.

The drivers allege that the authorities, particularly LASTMA and the Task Force, engage in extortion practices, demanding illicit payments that burden the already struggling drivers. This has been an ongoing concern for the commercial drivers, and today’s strike seems to be their collective response to address these issues.
