The Isabo Magistrate Court in Abeokuta, has granted controversial Nigerian singer Portable a bail of N2 million in his ongoing assault case.
The court adjourned the trial to March 5, allowing Portable to remain free pending the outcome of the case.
Portable surrendered to the police on Wednesday at the Lagos State Criminal Investigations Department, after being declared wanted by the Ogun State Command.
He was then transferred to the Ogun State Police Headquarters and eventually presented in court on Thursday.
The singer is facing some serious charges – five counts to be exact – including conspiracy, assault, and being armed with cutlasses and guns, however, he pleaded not gulity.
The singer’s counsel, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, pleaded for his bail, assuring the court that Portable “is now remorseful and has learnt his lessons.”
Magistrate O. L. Oke set Portable’s bail at N2 million and ordered him to provide a surety with a similar amount, adjourning the case until March 5 for further proceedings.
The nine individuals namely, Nurudeen Warris (21), Adetola Alashe, (25), Samuel Adeleke, (28), Oluwaseun Ayenuwa, (19), Oluwapelumi Adeosun, (20), Gospel Kanu, (20), Precious Ohiegebo, (19), Ifeoluwa Babatunde, (27), and Fatimo Muhammed, (26), were charged with serious offenses, including felony, assault, obstruction, and conduct likely to breach public peace.
The government officials who were assaulted are, Abidemi Onabanjo, Ramon Lateef, and Akinpelumi Oyero.
