The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday inaugurated the new Open-Mende-Ojota Link Bridge Project and the Multi-agency complex, Alausa, now known as Bola Ahmed Administrative Complex in Lagos State.

Akpabio represented President Bola Tinubu, who has been in Lagos for the past few days and is scheduled to embark on a two-day working visit to inaugurate about six key projects executed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Top Society reports that Bourdillon Road in Ikoyi, Lagos is where the private residence is located. Hence, Akpabio may be suggesting how close he is to the President by highlighting that they are neighbours.

“You wonder why the Senate President came to represent the president in Lagos… because the Senate President himself is a Lagosian. I live right behind Bourdillon and I’ve been there for the past 30 years. I worked at Ajose-Adeogun, I know Opebi, I know Allen,” he said.

Responding to remarks by the Chairman of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Tajudeen Olusi, who expressed a desire to see Tinubu at the event, Akpabio said the President’s responsibilities make it difficult for him to attend all engagements.

According to him, “You said you would have loved to see your son President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and yet, you also said it was predicted that one day he would be president of Nigeria.

“So, if you knew that he was going to be president of Nigeria, it means you also consented that you were selling him to Nigeria and the global community. That means that sometimes when you want to see him, he might not be available because of the exigencies of his office,” he added.

While cutting the ribbon, the Senate President said, “On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I commission these projects.” The Senate President was joined in the unveiling by Governor Sanwo-Olu, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma; the senator representing Lagos East District, Tokunbo Abiru; and some other dignitaries.

The Special Adviser to Sanwo-Olu on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, had in a recent post on X said that the President would commission “iconic, transformative and legacy projects” delivered by his principal.

According to him, the projects include the Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge, the Lagos State Geographic Information Service building in Alausa, the Lagos State Multi-Agency Complex, the Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle, the Maracana Stadium, and the Lagos Food Logistics Hub in Abijo.

“Please join the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to welcome President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to a two-day working visit to our dear State. While here, the President will commission some of our iconic, transformative, and legacy projects,” Akosile had stated.
