Ian Wright has expressed confidence that his former club, Arsenal, will secure the Premier League title this season despite a rocky start caused by Martin Odegaard’s absence.

The Gunners experienced a dip in form during Odegaard’s spell on the sidelines due to an ankle injury, which saw them drop points in six matches early in the campaign.

However, Arsenal’s position remains strong, sitting just one point behind reigning champions Manchester City and nine points adrift of league leaders Liverpool.

The team’s resilience and recent performances have given Wright renewed belief in their title credentials, particularly following Odegaard’s return to action.

Speaking on the latest episode of his podcast, Wrighty’s House, the Arsenal legend reiterated his unwavering faith in the team. “I’m not going to change my prediction,” Wright stated emphatically. “It’s not just because I want it to happen so much, but because I genuinely believe in this Arsenal team.

They needed this period of adversity, where they struggled in some games, to grow stronger and build character.”

Wright emphasized the importance of Odegaard’s role in the team, highlighting the impact of his injury and subsequent absence. “When Odegaard got injured, it was a massive blow.

The team had to dig deep and find a way to grind out results without him,” he explained. “It wasn’t pretty at times, but they managed to stay in the race. Now that he’s back, you can see the difference in the way they play.”

The former striker also praised Arsenal’s determination to bounce back from their setbacks, crediting Mikel Arteta’s tactical acumen and the squad’s collective effort. “What I love about this team is their mentality.

They’ve faced challenges and dropped points, but they’ve learned from those moments. They’re not letting it define their season,” Wright said.

With Liverpool currently leading the table, Wright acknowledged the significant challenge ahead but remains optimistic about Arsenal’s chances. “Now, it’s about chasing Liverpool.

We’re chasing them, and I believe we have what it takes to catch up,” he said confidently. “This team has the quality, the depth, and the hunger to go all the way.”

Wright’s belief in Arsenal has been a recurring theme throughout the season, and his latest comments underline his confidence in their ability to end their long wait for a Premier League title.

For Arsenal fans, his words will no doubt fuel excitement and anticipation for what could be a historic campaign.
