Liverpool are expected to be without as many as five players when they take on Manchester City in a high-profile Premier League match this weekend.
The Reds’ manager, Arne Slot, has confirmed that several key players are struggling with injuries and may not recover in time for the important encounter.
Defender Joe Gomez is edging closer to a return but is yet to resume full training. The England international has been sidelined since picking up an injury during Liverpool’s league match against Bournemouth nearly two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Jeremie Frimpong has been ruled out completely after Slot revealed that the player will not train this week. As a result, he will miss the clash against Pep Guardiola’s side.
In addition, Alexander Isak, Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley remain unavailable as they continue their recovery from injury.
Speaking ahead of the game, Slot explained that Gomez could take part in training on Saturday. However, he made it clear that the defender is not fit enough to start the match, though he could be used as a substitute if Liverpool need cover at the back.
With several defensive options unavailable, Liverpool may be forced to make adjustments as they prepare for one of their toughest league tests of the season against the defending champions.
