Arsenal F.C. manager Mikel Arteta has refused to get carried away after his team moved seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
Arsenal secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Brighton & Hove Albion F.C., while champions Manchester City F.C. were held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest F.C. at the Etihad Stadium.
Bukayo Saka, who captained Arsenal in the match played at the Amex Stadium, scored the only goal early in the first half to give the Gunners all three points.
Despite the growing lead at the top of the table, Arteta said his team is staying focused and not getting ahead of themselves.
“This was a very difficult match after everything we’ve been through in the last few weeks,” Arteta said.
“Every game in the Premier League is different. I give a lot of credit to the players because they have worked extremely hard.”
Speaking about the seven-point gap over Manchester City, the Arsenal manager added: “We simply did what we needed to do, and that is what we will continue to do.”
