MRS filling stations, a major partner of Dangote Refinery, have reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, in Abuja and surrounding areas.
The new price is N1,241 per litre, down from N1,317 per litre, representing a reduction of N76 per litre.
The adjustment is expected to bring some relief to motorists and other consumers who have been struggling with high transportation and energy costs.
The price reduction follows Dangote Refinery’s recent decision to lower its petrol loading price by N75 per litre after a decline in global crude oil prices.
Industry observers believe the move reflects changing market conditions and could encourage other marketers to review their fuel prices.
Despite the development, several filling stations, including NNPC, Ranoil and AA Rano, are yet to announce similar reductions in their pump prices.
This has sparked concerns among consumers, many of whom are calling on petroleum marketers to pass on the benefits of lower crude oil prices to Nigerians.
The latest reduction by MRS is being viewed as a positive step that could increase competition in the downstream petroleum sector and potentially lead to further price adjustments in the coming days.
