Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State have warned against an alleged plan to cancel the result of last Saturday’s governorship primary election, which was won by Dr. Wole Oluyede.
The leaders called on Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and other national leaders of the PDP to stop those they described as “enemies of the party” from overturning the people’s decision.

Those who spoke at a press conference in Ado Ekiti included Hon. Deji Ogunsakin (former deputy governorship candidate), Hon. Segun Adeola (former House of Representatives member), Makanjuola Ogundipe (former state PDP chairman), and Rt. Hon. Kola Oluwawole (former Speaker of the State House of Assembly).
They said Dr. Oluyede is the popular choice and the only candidate capable of helping the PDP win the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti.
“The primary election was free, fair, and transparent. Those trying to change the result are enemies of the people,” they said.
“Enough is enough. We do not want anyone to sell us out to the APC. The APC knows that Dr. Oluyede is a credible candidate who can win the 2026 election for us. The people voted for him because they trust his leadership.”
The leaders also appealed to Governor Makinde and the PDP national leadership not to listen to those trying to cause division within the party.
Meanwhile, Dr. Wole Oluyede has begun reconciliation efforts with other aspirants.
He visited Mrs. Funmilayo Ogun, one of his opponents in the primary, describing her as a sister and a loyal party member.
In her response, Mrs. Ogun said she was ready to work for peace and unity so that the PDP can become stronger and win the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State.
