The Special Adviser to the  President,  Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria  on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has criticised the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, alleging that the former Anambra State governor has taken inconsistent positions on major national policies.

In a series of remarks shared publicly, Bwala questioned Obi’s response to recent developments under the Tinubu administration, arguing that he appears dissatisfied whenever the country records what the government describes as progress. He wondered why Obi would oppose measures aimed at improving the nation despite seeking to lead it.

Daniel Bwala maintained that several reforms currently being implemented by the federal government were policies Obi had openly supported before the 2023 general election.

According to him, Peter Obi had previously endorsed the removal of fuel subsidy, the creation of state police, and the unification of Nigeria’s foreign exchange system.

He argued that after these reforms were introduced by the current administration, Obi shifted his stance and began criticising them, a move Bwala described as contradictory. He said the opposition figure now appears to reject policies he once presented as necessary for national development.

The presidential aide Daniel Bwala further suggested that Obi’s changing positions raise serious questions  about the consistency of his vision for Nigeria, adding that it is now becoming difficult to determine exactly what policies the former governor intends to pursue.

Top Society noted that the comments come amid continued political disagreements over the Tinubu administration’s economic and security reforms.

While the government insists that its policies are essential to stabilising the economy and strengthening national institutions over time, opposition voices have continued to express concerns about their implementation and impact on Nigerians.

As of the time of this report, Peter Obi and the Nigeria Democratic Congress had not publicly reacted to the statements.
