Bandits Threaten Attack on Three Kwara Communities

Tension is rising in Kwara State after suspected bandits reportedly sent a warning letter about a planned attack on three communities in Oyun Local Government Area.

The communities mentioned in the letter are Ira, Inaja, and Aho. The letter, said to be from a group calling itself the “Nigeria Terrorists Association (NTA),” was reportedly found at Ira market. Its contents have caused fear among residents.

According to the message, the group claimed it had moved from Kaiama in Kwara North Senatorial District to Oyun Local Government in Kwara South. The group threatened to attack Ira town, Inaja, and Aho village at any time.

Security agencies have since stepped up patrols in the affected areas. A security source said the Nigerian Army’s Forward Operation Base (FOB) in Ilemona is actively monitoring and patrolling the communities alongside other security personnel.

This development comes shortly after security forces repelled a bandit attack in Share, the headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area, also in Kwara South. The gun battle reportedly lasted about one hour. No deaths or kidnappings were recorded.

Residents in the threatened communities remain on alert as security agencies continue efforts to prevent any attack.
