AY Makun Reacts Following Backlash Over Absence At Estranged Wife’s Mother’s Funeral

Comedian and filmmaker AY Makun has posted a picture of himself in a black outfit following backlash from angry fans for reportedly skipping the funeral of his former wife, Mabel Makun’s mother, Mrs Rose Temietan Nwanegbu.

Top Society recalls, that Mabel joined by friends like singer Waje, Dr. Rom was present at the burial of Mrs Nwanegbu, who was laid to rest at the Garden Ikoyi in Lagos.

Videos from the ceremony circulated on Sunday, sparking speculation about AY’s presence, as many assumed he was absent and criticised him for it.

In response, AY shared a photo of himself with a friend, both dressed in black, captioned, “It is well…” without specifying the occasion.

The post drew mixed reactions from fans.

While some praised him for attending the funeral, others criticised those who rushed to conclusions about his absence.

Omowoma Deborah commented, “And some people don’t dey use mouth flog you say you nor go the burial… Una dey talk for this country.”

Eleke Tochukwu wrote, “You are making us your fans proud sir 🙌 more love less ego.”

Another user, Dobi, said, “May God comfort Mabel and you all 😢😢.”

Others applauded him for showing support despite the challenges in his marriage.

AY and Mabel ended their marriage in April after nearly two decades together.

The comedian confirmed their separation in an Instagram post, admitting to actions he was not proud of and lamenting the breakdown of their relationship.
