Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has denied rumours that he has left the Labour Party (LP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The story, which spread on social media, claimed Otti had defected to the APC.
But the Abia State Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, said the report is false and was created by political opponents who are jealous of the governor’s success and popularity.
He explained that Governor Otti is still a proud member of the Labour Party — the party that brought him to power.
According to him, Otti is focused on rebuilding Abia, promoting transparency, and ensuring good governance for all.
Kanu also reminded the public that during the governor’s recent media programme, “Governor Alex Otti
Speaks to Abians,” Otti clearly stated that he has no interest in switching parties or playing political games. His goal, he said, is to serve the People see

e and transform the state.
He added that Otti’s leadership is based on honesty, discipline, infrastructure development, economic progress, youth empowerment, and public trust — values that match the ideals of the Labour Party.
Prince Kanu urged citizens to ignore the false rumours, calling them cheap propaganda meant to distract from the real progress in Abia.

He concluded, “Governor Alex Otti is fully committed to building a new Abia based on truth, justice, and fairness under the Labour Party.”
