The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, has reaffirmed Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan as the rightful winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial Election held in February. The court’s decision, rendered today, dismissed the appeal brought forth by Abubakar Ohere of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for lacking in merit.
The legal tussle began earlier this year when the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal in Lokoja nullified the victory of Abubakar Ohere as the winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial Election. The tribunal declared Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan, representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the legitimate victor.

Undeterred, Abubakar Ohere then sought redress in the appellate court, hoping to overturn the tribunal’s decision. Despite his efforts, the Court of Appeal upheld the initial ruling, solidifying Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan’s position as the rightful winner of the senatorial poll.

With this ruling, Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan is set to assume her role as the representative of Kogi Central.
