Farah Maalim, a prominent Member of Parliament (MP) in Kenya, found himself at the center of a heated debate during a recent parliamentary sitting.

The source of the contention was his donning of a traditional Palestinian scarf, meant to symbolize solidarity with the strife-torn region of Gaza, amidst the ongoing conflict between Israel and terrorist elements.

In an impassioned statement, Mr. Maalim defended his decision, emphasizing the need for unified support for the people of Palestine during these tumultuous times.

His choice, however, was not well received by the Speaker of the National Assembly, who swiftly intervened, citing a breach of parliamentary regulations.

Voices of dissent quickly amplified as fellow MPs criticized the lawmaker for what they perceived as a blatant disregard for the protocols of the House.

This event occurs against the backdrop of recent actions taken by the Kenyan authorities, who briefly detained three individuals for their participation in a pro-Palestinian gathering in the capital city of Nairobi.
