Head coach of the Super Eagles, Éric Chelle, has confirmed that he made 19 specific demands to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) during negotiations over a new contract.

Chelle has been in discussions with the National Sports Commission (NSC) following Nigeria’s impressive third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in January.

His performance at the tournament strengthened his position, but it also triggered fresh talks about improving his contract terms and working conditions.

Recently, parts of a document containing Chelle’s requests were leaked to the media.

Reports claimed that the Malian coach demanded a monthly salary of $130,000, along with several other conditions aimed at improving the structure and organization of the national team setup.

Speaking in an interview on histoiresdefootpodcast, Chelle confirmed that the document circulating online is authentic. However, he expressed surprise and concern over how a confidential negotiation paper became public.

“Honestly, I don’t know how this document got into the media. That is the first question I am asking myself,” Chelle said.

“These were internal discussions meant to help the team move forward.”
He also clarified that the reported figure was in dollars, not euros as earlier suggested in some publications.

According to Chelle, the $130,000 monthly package is not solely for his personal salary.

He explained that the amount would cover the wages of his entire technical crew, including assistants and backroom staff who work closely with the team.

Chelle stressed that his demands were not unreasonable but focused on creating better working conditions, improving logistics, and ensuring stability for the players and coaching staff.

Negotiations between Chelle and the football authorities are still ongoing, and no final agreement has been officially announced.

With negotiations still ongoing, the coming weeks could prove decisive for Éric Chelle and the Nigeria Football Federation, as both sides work to reach an agreement that will determine the immediate future of the Super Eagles and set the tone for the team’s preparations ahead of major international competitions.
