Tension is growing in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the group loyal to former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike plans to hold an emergency meeting, even though they were recently expelled from the party.

Wike, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and several of their supporters were removed from the party during the PDP National Elective Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, over the weekend. Their expulsion was one of the major decisions made at the event, which was filled with disagreements and internal struggles.
Despite this, the expelled group has sent out a notice calling members of the National Executive Council (NEC) and the Board of Trustees (BoT) to an emergency meeting on Tuesday at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja. The notice was signed by Anyanwu, who still describes himself as the party’s National Secretary, even after his removal.
In the message, the faction said the meeting is very important and asked all invited members to attend, saying that “key issues affecting the party’s future and unity will be discussed.”
This move is expected to worsen the ongoing crisis in the PDP, as the expelled faction seems ready to challenge the decisions made at the Ibadan convention. Political analysts believe the party may face another serious confrontation, with each side trying to prove it has the rightful authority.
As Tuesday approaches, party members and observers are watching closely to see how the PDP will handle this new wave of internal conflict that could further weaken the party ahead of future elections.
