The Nigerian Senate has taken action in response to the tragic death of Ms. Greatness Olorunfemi at Maitama General Hospital last Tuesday. Olorunfemi fell victim to ‘one chance’ criminals who not only stabbed her but also threw her out of the vehicle she had boarded along the Maitama/Kubwa Highway.
Senate Summons Service Chiefs Amid Escalating Insecurity
Despite the immediate efforts of Good Samaritans who rushed her to Maitama General Hospital, the hospital allegedly refused to provide medical attention, citing the lack of a police report.
In response to this distressing incident, the Senate has summoned key officials for investigation. Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the ministers of Health and FCT, Ali Pate and Nyesom Wike respectively, have been summoned to provide explanations regarding the circumstances surrounding Olorunfemi’s tragic demise.
Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, through a sponsored motion, has called upon the Senate to take swift action. The Senate has instructed its committees on health and police to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the death of Ms. Greatness Olorunfemi. They are expected to report their findings within two weeks.
Furthermore, the senators are adamant that Maitama General Hospital should face legal consequences, as they are demanding that the hospital be sued for manslaughter in connection with this unfortunate incident.
