Russia has strongly criticised the United States and Israel over their reported military strikes on Iran, describing the action as dangerous and unjustified.
In a statement released by the Russian Foreign Ministry, Moscow condemned what it called a deliberate attack on the territory of a sovereign member of the United Nations.
The Kremlin urged an immediate end to hostilities and called on all parties to return to dialogue to prevent further escalation.
Russian officials accused Washington and Tel Aviv of using concerns over Iran’s nuclear programme as a cover for broader political objectives, including attempts to weaken the Iranian government.
They warned that continued military action could trigger serious humanitarian and economic consequences across the Middle East, and even pose environmental risks.
Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, alleged that the United States used ongoing nuclear discussions with Iran as a distraction before launching military operations.
Moscow said it is prepared to support diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and restoring stability. However, it placed full responsibility for the current escalation on the United States and Israel.
Russia also called on the international community to urgently assess the situation and take steps to prevent what it described as reckless actions capable of further destabilising the region.
