A high-stakes meeting is underway at the Lagos State House of Assembly, as lawmakers, including Mudashiru Obasa and Mojisola Meranda, convene with top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the state Attorney General, Lawal Pedro (SAN).

The gathering, which is ongoing under a tent, precedes a plenary session scheduled for 1 pm.

According to reports, the meeting aims to resolve the lingering leadership crisis at the House, which has been marked by intense politicking and power struggles. Speculations suggest that Meranda may resign today, paving the way for a new Speaker from Lagos West to assume the role.

Notably, Obasa arrived around 1:30 pm to join the meeting, which has now broken into a separate gathering with key stakeholders, including APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi and the Attorney General.

The development comes after weeks of political maneuvering and interventions by President Bola Tinubu and top APC leaders. The crisis has sparked concerns about the stability of the Lagos State House of Assembly, with the institution itself standing to lose from the turmoil.

As the meeting continues, lawmakers and party leaders are engaged in intense discussions, aiming to find a lasting solution to the crisis. The outcome of the meeting is expected to have far-reaching implications for the leadership of the House and the APC in Lagos State.
