Gunmen Invade Edo Home, Kill Father, Abduct Daughter

Suspected kidnappers have killed a community leader in Edo State and abducted his daughter along with another young woman in a late-night attack that has left residents in shock.

The incident occurred around 9:40 p.m. on February 23 at the victim’s residence in Idoa community, located in Esan West Local Government Area of the state. According to reports, the gunmen stormed the house and opened fire during the attack.

The victim, identified as 50-year-old Chief Jimoh Jacob, was shot during the assault. He reportedly died on the spot as a result of the injuries he sustained. His sudden death has thrown the quiet community into mourning, with many residents expressing fear over the growing insecurity in the area.

During the attack, the gunmen also abducted his 23-year-old daughter, Nene Jacob. She was taken away alongside her friend, another young woman whose identity has not yet been confirmed by authorities. The kidnappers fled the scene shortly after carrying out the operation.

The body of the deceased community leader has been moved to a morgue for further examination and necessary procedures.

Security operatives have since launched a search operation across the community and nearby areas. They are combing surrounding bushes and neighbouring communities in an effort to rescue the abducted women and track down those responsible for the crime.
