Fayose Named REA Board Chairman as Tinubu Makes 26 Key Appointments

President Bola Tinubu on Monday approved the appointment of 26 persons into the boards and management of 10 key Federal Government agencies and commissions, naming former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose the Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

The President also appointed Major General Junaid Bindawa as chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, alongside eight other members and a new secretary for the commission.

According to a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Fayose will head the REA board with Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta serving as members and non-executive directors.

The board will also include the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three executive directors previously appointed.

For the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, former member of the House of Representatives, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was appointed the Secretary of the commission.

Other appointments to the commission include Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian representing Benue State, Oladele Olatubosun, representing Oyo State; Yakubu Umar Barde, representing Kaduna State; Dr. Mai Adamu Yau, from Borno State; Ginika Florence Tor, from Enugu State; Lawrence Okoh, from Edo State, and Bello Morenike Iyabode, from Kogi State.

President Tinubu also redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who was previously appointed the  Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund, as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

The President further appointed Dr. Abuh Mohammed as the Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), replacing Dr. Osifo Tellson Ojogun; Dr. Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET); and Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.

Julius Oloro was named the Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM) in Kwara State, replacing Dr. A. R. Kamal, who died in January.

The President also constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission with Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as chairman.

Other members of the commission are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.

In another appointment, Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was named Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund in April.

The President also approved the appointment of Gisaor Vincent Iorja as Executive Director, Finance, of the Federal Housing Authority to replace Mathias Byuan, who resigned to contest the Benue State governorship election.

Iorja is an economist, legal scholar, and academic currently serving as the Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission.

The statement said all the appointments take immediate effect.
