Former President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, has included songs by Nigerian singers, Davido, Burna Boy Asake and Tems in his favorite playlist of 2023 list.
Obama in a bid to continue his annual tradition of sharing his favorite songs of the year, unveiled the list via his ‘X’ handle on Friday evening.
‘Unavailable’ by Davido, ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ by Burna Boy featuring 21 Savage, ‘Amapiano’ by Asake & Olamide and Tems’ ‘Me & U’ were the only Afrobeats songs on the playlist.
Sharing the playlist, Obama wrote,
“Here are some of my favourite songs from this year. Let me know if there are any artists or songs I should check out.”
The Nigerian music stars joined other superstars Megan Thee Stallion, Beyonce, Victoria Monet and 6LACK on the playlist that comprises both classic and new records.
Recall this is not the first time either Burna Boy or Ayra Starr had featured on Obama’s playlist with ‘Last Last’ and ‘Rush’ making the cut in 2022.
Wizkid and Rema, are also other Nigerian artists who have featured in the list.
