On a rather sad note in Nollywood, it has been revealed that John Okafor, widely recognized as Mr. Ibu, has undergone a series of surgeries, leading to the unfortunate amputation of one of his legs.
According to a post shared on his official Nollywood page on Monday, the actor underwent a total of seven surgeries, with the difficult decision to amputate being made in order to ensure his survival and facilitate his recovery.
The post reads:
“We want to appreciate everyone that has come through for our dad, saying we are grateful is an understatement and only the good Lord can thank you all enough for every help you’ve rendered. “As of 1 pm ,noon today , Daddy has gone through 7 successful surgeries but to keep him alive and increase his chances of recovery one of his legs had to be amputated.

The family also called for further donations by posting an account number for people to make payment to.

While the specific reasons behind the surgeries have not been disclosed, the news of Mr. Ibu’s health struggles has undoubtedly caused concern and shock across the entertainment industry and among his fans worldwide. Known for his comedic prowess and vibrant on-screen persona, Mr. Ibu has been a prominent figure in the Nigerian film industry, affectionately referred to as Nollywood, for many years.
Despite the recent setback, there has been an outpouring of support and well-wishes for the actor.
