Morocco have stepped up their preparations for their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 semi-final clash against Nigeria by using advanced video and data analysis technology to study the Super Eagles in detail.
According to a report by Moroccan sports newspaper AlMountakhab, head coach Walid Regragui and his technical crew are spending long hours reviewing Nigeria’s matches at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Salé.
The aim is to gain a deep understanding of how the Super Eagles play, including their attacking patterns, defensive structure, and key players.
Nigeria booked their place in the semi-finals after a convincing 2-0 victory over Algeria in the quarter-finals.
Goals from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams sealed the win, continuing Nigeria’s impressive run in the tournament. That result also meant the Super Eagles have now defeated two North African opponents at AFCON 2025, underlining their growing confidence and momentum.
Morocco, on their part, reached the last four after a solid 2-0 win over Cameroon. The Atlas Lions have shown discipline and balance throughout the competition, combining strong defence with quick attacking transitions.
Regragui is said to be leaving nothing to chance ahead of the crucial encounter.
With the help of his assistants, Rachid Benmahmoud and Bouhazama, the Moroccan coach is receiving detailed tactical reports prepared by the team’s analysis unit. These reports highlight Nigeria’s strengths, possible weaknesses, and the roles of their most dangerous players.
The semi-final will take place on Wednesday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, where Morocco will enjoy home support. Regragui believes careful preparation will be key in stopping Nigeria’s free-scoring attack.
So far in the tournament, Morocco have scored nine goals and kept four clean sheets, making them one of the most organised teams at AFCON 2025. Nigeria, however, remain the most lethal side in front of goal, having scored 14 times and keeping clean sheets in their last two knockout matches.
Individually, Real Madrid midfielder Brahim Díaz leads the tournament’s goal-scoring chart with five goals.
He is closely followed by Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, who has four goals and continues to play a crucial role in the Super Eagles’ attacking success.
With both teams in strong form and the stakes high, Wednesday’s semi-final promises to be one of the most exciting matches of AFCON 2025.
