Pension audit: In a bid to alleviate the suffering of pensioners undergoing forensic audit in Osun state, the State Government has taken a significant step by decentralizing the exercise.
This decision comes in the wake of inconveniences experienced by pensioners during the audit process in the state capital, Osogbo, where some elderly individuals were reported to have endured various forms of exhaustion, leading to the premature termination of the exercise on Monday.
The directive to decentralize the audit process was relayed through a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, on behalf of the State Governor.
As per the statement, the Governor has instructed that senior citizens cease their visits to the state capital for the audit. Instead, the auditing team will now conduct the screening at the headquarters of each federal constituency, ensuring greater accessibility and convenience for the pensioners.
Furthermore, the government plans to employ mobile calls as a means to facilitate the participation of bedridden pensioners, ensuring that their involvement in the audit process is not impeded.

The decision emphasizes the government’s commitment to prioritizing the well-being of its senior citizens, particularly in the context of important administrative procedures such as forensic audits. Pensioners have been advised to adhere to the new directive and refrain from making further trips to Osogbo.
The statement reads:
“This is to inform pensioners of all cadres to stay back in their respective areas as the State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has approved a conditional decentralization of the pension audit exercise.
“The auditing team will conduct the screening at the headquarters of each federal constituency, while mobile calls will also be used to access bedridden pensioners. Pensioners should therefore stop coming to Osogbo.
“Under the adjusted model, pensioners are to be screened at the headquarters of their federal constituencies. This is to be preceded by a pre-screening visitations to the selected centers at the headquarters.
“A test run of the new arrangement is to be held at two federal constituencies before extension of the model to all the remaining seven federal constituencies. Full security and logistic support are already in place to ensure seamless conclusion of the screening exercise.
“The government of Governor Ademola Adeleke holds the pensioners in high esteem and will ensure that the exercise is finally rounded up with full focus on convenience and comfort for the pensioners”.
