The House of Representatives has called upon the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy to intervene and reverse the recent surge in DStv/GOtv tariffs imposed by the MultiChoice Group.

Led by Umar Ajilo, the House expressed deep concern over the widespread economic challenges faced by Nigerians, citing political and economic issues as contributing factors.

The lawmakers fear that the substantial increase in tariffs, which took effect from Monday, November 6, 2023, could exacerbate the already difficult circumstances for citizens. Against a backdrop of financial strain and rising living expenses, the Green Chamber emphasizes the urgent need for government action to alleviate the burden on households.
