Multi-award winning singer, David Adeleke known by the stage name Davido on Friday showed up in support of  Tunde Onakoya, a chess master and founder of Chess in Slums Africa, who is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest Chess Marathon.

It would be recalled that Tunde announced his plan to attempt it on Wednesday via the microblogging platform X, formerly Twitter. He stated his motivation as “Doing this for the dreams of millions of children across Africa without access to education.”

The marathon, currently ongoing at New York City’s iconic Times Square, began at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, and is scheduled to conclude at 8 p.m. on April 19.

Onakoya aims to play continuously for 58 hours without suffering a defeat.

He also seeks to raise $1 million to support global chess education for children.

Following Onakoya’s mission to raise over a million dollars to support the children of chess in slums, Nigerians have taken to social media to cheer, show, and send support messages to the chess master.

Amongst which is Davido, who showed up to show his support to the chess master.

The singer is seen hugging Onakoya who paused for a bit to acknowledge his presence after which went back to playing the game.
