No Casualties Reported in Lagos Tanker Explosion 


The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that no casualties were recorded in the recent tanker explosion in the Ijora area of Lagos State.

Margaret Adeseye, the General Manager of the service, assured the public in a statement that the fire has been successfully contained.

According to the latest information from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the devastating incident occurred on the bridge connecting Ijora, Orile, and Costain areas of Lagos late Thursday night.

“The raging fire has been curtailed as the dampening of pockets of fire continues to allow for investigation to reveal the cause and the evacuation of the carcass to bring about normalcy.

“The incident affected 11 vehicles comprising of two tankers, one tipper truck, three trailers, three cars, and two micro-mini busses,” she said.

Southwest Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Ibrahim Falinloye, revealed that the fire engulfed 13 vehicles, including buses, cars, a trailer carrying Sardines and detergents, an SUV, flat body trailers, containers, and PMS tankers.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) is currently in the process of evacuating the remnants of the burnt vehicles. Further updates on the situation are yet to be disclosed.
