Obi Addresses Press Conference on Tinubu’s Certificate Controversy

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, took to the podium on Wednesday to address a World Press Conference concerning the ongoing controversy surrounding the certificate of President Bola Tinubu.

The press conference took place at the prestigious Shehu Musa Yar’adua Auditorium in Wuse 2, Abuja, drawing significant media attention and public interest.

During his address, Peter Obi delved into the contentious issue of the alleged forged Diploma Certificate from the Chicago State University (CSU) that President Tinubu had reportedly submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Obi expressed his concerns over the potential damage to Nigeria’s reputation, stating that Nigerians were now being perceived as fraudsters, certificate forgers, and identity thieves due to the controversy surrounding President Tinubu.

Obi did not mince words as he called upon President Tinubu to provide clarity and transparency to the nation. He urged the President to disclose his true name, the educational institution he attended, the details of his service, and the legitimacy of the certificate obtained from CSU. Obi emphasized that such transparency would not only save the President from embarrassment but also safeguard Nigeria’s image on the global stage.

The former Governor of Anambra firmly advised President Tinubu to promptly furnish Nigerians and the entire world with the necessary information to quell the growing concerns and uncertainties regarding his academic credentials and personal history.

He said:

“Mr Tinubu should tell the nation his true name, the school he attended, where he served and the certificate he obtained. He must do this task once and now. It is a matter of morality, honour, and integrity. Tinubu needs to come clean.

“The world now sees Nigerians as fraudsters, certificate forgers and identity thieves because of what Bola Ahmed Tinubu did at Chicago State University.”

Atiku has raised a challenge against the declaration of Tinubu as the victor of the February 25 election and the subsequent affirmation of Tinubu’s triumph by the election petition tribunal on September 6.

He initiated this challenge due to suspicions regarding the authenticity of the certificates Tinubu submitted to INEC and the presence of discrepancies and forgeries in his academic records.

Subsequent to the release of these contested certificates, Atiku called upon Obi, the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, and other concerned Nigerians to support his pursuit of “justice” in the controversy surrounding President Tinubu’s academic credentials.

Atiku’s plea to the US court for the Northern District of Illinois to compel CSU to disclose Tinubu’s academic records has been granted, and these records are now accessible to the public.
