A political figure, Dele Momodu, has said that President Bola Tinubu is the reason opposition leaders like Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso are now working together ahead of the 2027 election.
Speaking on television, Momodu explained that the unity among opposition politicians is not because they truly agree, but because they feel pressure from the current government.
He said Tinubu’s actions made them come together, which could have created a strong two-party contest.
Recently, Obi and Kwankwaso left their political group due to internal problems and disagreements. This has led to talks about whether they might run together in the next election.
However, Momodu warned that things have changed since the 2023 election. He questioned whether any of the candidates can still rely on the same supporters as before.
He also said that if the next election is free and fair, Tinubu might struggle to get the same number of votes he received previously.
According to him, voter loyalty is shifting, pointing to politicians who recently failed to win elections in their own states.
Momodu added that his party is open to new members but will not depend on any single individual to win elections.
He also noted that past alliances between major politicians did not lead to victory, advising everyone to remain calm and realistic.
