The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has screened Prince Adewole Adebayo and other presidential aspirants ahead of its national convention for the 2027 elections.
Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday, the party’s National Chairman, Professor Sadiq Gombe, said the SDP had made strong preparations for the convention to choose a candidate that can challenge President Bola Tinubu of the APC in 2027.
Gombe said the party created more than four committees to handle the process. These include the Screening Committee, Electoral Committee, Convention Committee, and other sub-committees to ensure a fair and credible exercise.
He explained that the screening would take place at the SDP National Secretariat, which is the party’s registered office with INEC.
According to him, all aspirants seeking elective positions would be screened, including those contesting for president, governor, National Assembly, and State House of Assembly seats.
Gombe also said the party trusts the committee members to carry out their duties with fairness, honesty, and transparency.
Chairman of the Screening Committee, Air Vice Marshal Sadiq Abubakar Lima, also urged members to follow the party’s rules strictly and handle the assignment with integrity.
