Nigeria’s Super Falcons will play two friendly matches against Cameroon women’s national football team next month as part of their preparation for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed that the matches will take place in Yaounde, Cameroon, during the FIFA Women’s International Window from February 24 to March 7, 2026.

The first match will be played on February 28, while the second will hold on March 3, 2026.

The NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, said the federation has completed all arrangements with Cameroon’s football body, Fédération Camerounaise de Football (FECAFOOT). He explained that the goal is to prepare the team well to defend their WAFCON title in Morocco and also qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Cameroon’s football authorities also welcomed the matches and said they are happy to host Nigeria.

The friendlies were arranged after a planned four-nation tournament involving Nigeria, Benin, Senegal and Ivory Coast was cancelled due to logistical problems. The cancellation had affected the team’s preparation plans.

The last time Nigeria and Cameroon met in a friendly match, Nigeria won 2-0 in Abeokuta.

The 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will take place in Morocco from March 17 to April 3, 2026. The top four teams in the tournament will qualify automatically for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Nigeria are the most successful team in WAFCON history, having won the tournament 10 times. The upcoming matches against Cameroon will help the players regain match fitness and improve teamwork ahead of the competition.
