An aspirant for the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Emma Opara, has stepped up consultations ahead of the 2027 elections, assuring party leaders and stakeholders of his commitment to effective representation and good governance.

Opara made the pledge on Thursday, April 23, 2026, during a visit to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Secretariat in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area, where he was received by the LGA Chairman, Hon. Pius Omah, members of the executive council, and party leaders from across the LGA and zonal levels.

Addressing the gathering, the lawmaker hopeful said his ambition is driven by a desire to serve the people of Isiala Mbano with integrity and purpose.

He outlined a six-point agenda that will guide his legislative priorities if elected. The agenda includes effective representation, youth empowerment and engagement, robust oversight functions, improved healthcare service delivery, quality and affordable education, and enhanced security of lives and property.

He assured stakeholders that these priorities would form the cornerstone of his legislative activities, stressing that he would remain accountable to the people and deliver on his promises.

“I am fully prepared to serve our people with dedication and transparency. These six cardinal agenda are not just promises but commitments that will shape my representation,” Opara said.

Responding to concerns about possible defection after winning office—a trend that has raised questions about party loyalty in Nigeria’s political space—Opara reaffirmed his allegiance to the ADC. He maintained that his political journey is anchored on the pursuit of good governance and respect for party supremacy.

“The party remains supreme. I will not take any decision that undermines the ADC, which has provided me this platform,” he added.

Earlier, the ADC Chairman in Isiala Mbano LGA, Hon. Pius Omah, welcomed Opara and expressed confidence in his capacity to represent the constituency effectively. He assured the aspirant of the party’s support, contingent on his emergence as the ADC flag bearer for the 2027 state assembly election.

Omah also urged him to remain focused and resilient, noting that political journeys often come with challenges but also opportunities for growth and learning.

He concluded with prayers for Opara and his supporters, wishing them safety and success as they work towards actualising their political ambition.

The visit is part of ongoing grassroots engagements by Opara as he seeks to consolidate support within the ADC ahead of the party’s primaries.
