A renewed public debate has emerged following claims that Nigerian Troops Rescue 62 Hostages, Neutralise Militants in Northwest Security Operations music star Davido to the paternity of a 12-year-old girl, prompting a firm response from his father, businessman Adedeji Adeleke. The issue, which has circulated intermittently for over a decade, has once again attracted attention after the alleged child appealed publicly for clarity on her identity.
According to the Adeleke family, the paternity allegation is not new and has been addressed multiple times in the past through scientific means. Davido’s father stated that several DNA tests were conducted over the years to determine whether his son had any biological connection to the child. He maintained that all tests consistently showed negative results, effectively ruling out Davido as the girl’s biological father.
Mr. Adeleke stressed that the family’s position is based on verifiable evidence rather than speculation or public sentiment. He explained that while Davido has openly acknowledged and taken responsibility for his children in other situations, this particular claim was rejected solely because scientific findings did not support it. In his view, DNA testing remains the most reliable method for resolving such sensitive disputes.
Despite the test results, Davido’s father disclosed that he had, at an earlier stage, offered financial assistance toward the child’s welfare and education. He clarified that this support was provided on humanitarian grounds and should not be interpreted as an admission of paternity. He further noted that acts of compassion should not be confused with legal or biological responsibility.
The decision not to release DNA reports publicly has also been addressed. Mr. Adeleke cited concerns over privacy and the protection of sensitive personal information, particularly given the involvement of a minor. He argued that making such documents public could expose the child to further scrutiny and potential harm.
On the other side, the child’s mother has continued to challenge the family’s claims, expressing dissatisfaction with the handling of the matter and calling for renewed testing. She has also raised concerns about her safety and that of her daughter, appealing for accountability and protection amid the intense public attention surrounding the case.
The controversy has sparked widespread discussion across social media and public forums, touching on broader issues such as the responsibility of public figures, the emotional impact of unresolved identity questions on children, and the role of science in settling deeply personal disputes. Many observers have also questioned how such cases should be handled in the public space, especially when minors are involved.
As the debate continues, Davido’s father has reiterated that the family considers the matter settled based on existing evidence. He called for restraint, urging the public to respect due process, verified facts, and the welfare of the child at the centre of the controversy. While emotions remain high, the case highlights the complex intersection of celebrity, private life, and public accountability in contemporary Nigerian society.
