Activist lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has criticised former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, saying the former governor is now asking for the rule of law after allegedly oppressing others while in office.
El-Rufai made the comment after security agents reportedly tried to arrest him at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja when he returned from Cairo, Egypt.
According to reports, El-Rufai refused to follow the officers and instead asked them to send him an official letter of invitation.
In a statement, El-Rufai said his lawyers had condemned what he described as an illegal attempt to arrest him at the airport. He added that Nigeria must move beyond executive overreach and respect the rule of law.
Reacting on his X account, Adeyanju wrote that El-Rufai, who once oppressed others, is now crying and asking for the rule of law, adding that it is karma at work.
