Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has strongly condemned a missile attack on a school in Iran that resulted in the deaths of dozens of children, calling the act “shocking and unacceptable.”

Speaking in the Italian Senate on Wednesday, Meloni urged the international community to investigate the attack and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

“On behalf of the Italian government, we extend our deepest condolences and sympathy to the families of the children and all those affected by this tragic incident,” Meloni said. She emphasized that attacks on schools and innocent civilians violate fundamental human rights and must never be tolerated.

The strike, which occurred amid rising tensions in the Middle East, has sparked global outrage. International leaders have joined Meloni in calling for a thorough investigation and immediate measures to prevent further civilian casualties.

Experts say the attack highlights the dangers faced by children in conflict zones and underscores the urgent need for diplomatic solutions to ongoing regional conflicts.

Meloni also stressed the importance of maintaining international norms and protecting vulnerable populations during times of war. “Every child has the right to safety and education,” she said. “Attacks like this cannot go unanswered.”

The missile strike has intensified concerns about escalating violence in the region, with humanitarian organizations warning that civilian infrastructure, especially schools, is increasingly at risk.

The international community is now being urged to respond decisively to prevent further tragedies.
