Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has said he will not support the re-election of Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, in the 2027 governorship election.
Kalu, who represents Abia North in the Senate, said party loyalty is more important than personal friendship. He spoke during an interview on Sunrise Daily on Channels Television.
He explained that although he and Otti are friends, they belong to different political parties. Kalu is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while Otti belongs to the Labour Party.
According to Kalu, each of them should support their own party. He said political differences should not end their friendship.
Kalu added that even though he wants peace and stability in Abia State, he will still work for the APC’s candidate in the 2027 election.
“I will oppose him because my party will present a candidate. It is about the interest of my party,” he said.
