Elder statesman Bode George has called on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to end his conflict with Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State. Speaking to the press on Thursday, George criticized party leaders for failing to hold Nyesom Wike accountable for his actions.
He emphasized that no individual should be allowed to dominate or disrupt the party.
“May I ask the leadership of our party today, what exactly is the offense of Governor Fubara of Rivers State?” George questioned. “Why are party members unbothered by the situation in Rivers State? Governor Wike played a role in Fubara’s emergence as the state’s governor, a fact Fubara has publicly acknowledged. But should that make him subservient? Why are some members enabling Wike to destabilize the state?”
George expressed his disapproval of Wike’s alleged attempts to control Rivers State from Abuja. “Did his predecessors behave this way? This pattern must stop. Why can’t we learn from past mistakes? If we want this party to progress, troublemakers must be called to order,” he urged.
He also condemned Wike’s public threats to other governors, accusing him of boasting about causing chaos while enjoying protection from the ruling APC. “Why hasn’t the APC sanctioned him? And why can’t the PDP take decisive action? Instead of sowing discord in our party, why don’t they openly defect to the APC if that is where their loyalty lies?”
Addressing Wike directly, George said, “You are my political son. But you must understand that no one is bigger than the party. It is time to stop this destructive behavior and prioritize the unity and progress of our party.”
