Nollywood actor turned politician Desmond Elliot have come under heavy criticism for distributing perfumes and books to his constituents ahead of the by-election for Surulere Federal Constituency 1.
The member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing the constituency, Desmond on Thursday took his team on to a rally, in which items such as books and perfumes were distributed to residents of the area.

The by-election is to replace Femi Gbajabiamila who resigned from the House of Representatives to become President Bola Tinubu’s chief of staff.
Taking to social media, critics slammed the actor/politician over the display. According to them, he belittled his constituents with the items at a time when many were hungry.
Desmond’s supporters, however, said his naysayers would have also criticised him if he distributed food items to his constituents.
