Operatives of the Ekiti State Police Command have arrested a pastor identified as Abiodun Sunday for killing his pregnant wife, Adeyemi Adetola in Ido-ile, Ekiti West Local Government Area.
The pastor popularly known as Arena reportedly strangled his spouse to death for ritual purposes at 9pm on Tuesday, November 19.
In an attempt to leave the town after performing the unauthorized evacuation of the fetus from her womb, Arena was apprehended with the corpse.
The culprit was intercepted at Ita-ido, and immediately taken to the police station where he’d subsequently transferred to the homicide section of the state command.
Confirming the incident, the spokesman of the State Police Command, DSP Sunday Abutu, said that the culprit’s have been arrested and investigations was ongoing.
It was gathered that the pastor was a former herbalist, who was posted to a Christ Apostolic Church in Ori-Oke, but was once expelled for kidnapping a child.
Reacting to the incident, the traditional rular of the community, Oba Aderemi Obaleye in a statement addressing news men condemned the killing of the woman.
According to Oba Aderemi, the sad development nearly set the town on fire because the youths went on rampage in protest against the so-called pastor.
He said, “I want the authorities to investigate the matter and bring the culprit to book to serve as a deterrent to others.”
