President Bola Tinubu’s upcoming participation in the COP28 Climate Summit in Dubai has been officially confirmed through a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
The summit, also known as the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference, aims to address pressing environmental issues on a global scale.
Scheduled to depart Abuja on Wednesday, President Tinubu will actively participate in the Leaders’ Summit under the theme “Unite, Act, and Deliver.” His agenda includes advocating for increased financial and technical support for developing nations, emphasizing developed countries’ commitment to providing $100 billion annually for climate change initiatives.
The President’s message will also spotlight the importance of holding businesses and institutions accountable, aligning with Nigeria’s dedication to sustainable and responsible practices.
Tinubu Set to Present N27.5tn 2024 Appropriation Bill to National Assembly
During his stay in Dubai, President Tinubu is set to engage in key sideline events, furthering his commitment to attracting foreign direct investment for wealth creation and revenue expansion in Nigeria. The Nigerian delegation accompanying him will explore establishing bilateral partnerships, focusing on implementing Nigeria’s Energy Transition, Article 6 Projects, Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes, Technology Transfer, Capacity Building, and Methane Mitigation.
Notably, this visit marks President Tinubu’s 11th foreign destination in the six months since assuming office. His previous trips include visits to Paris, London, Bissau, Nairobi, Porto Novo, New Delhi, Abu Dhabi, New York, Riyadh, and Berlin.
Accompanied by senior government officials, President Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja upon the conclusion of the COP28 Climate Summit, contributing to global efforts in tackling climate change.
