The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, says activist Omoyele Sowore is still wanted by the police.

He promised that the police would take all legal steps to arrest him.
Jimoh made this known on Wednesday during an interview on Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television programme monitored by pressmen.

According to him, Sowore has not reported to the police since he was declared wanted.

The commissioner added that the declaration remains valid and that the police will continue to pursue the case.

Earlier on Monday, Jimoh had declared Sowore wanted for allegedly causing public disturbance and planning to block traffic on the Third Mainland Bridge.

“My declaration that Sowore is wanted is still in force,” he said.
Jimoh also revealed that Sowore’s lawyer had contacted him by text message on Monday while he was responding to a riot.

The message was forwarded to the police legal department for follow-up, and both parties agreed that Sowore would report at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), where the case is being handled.

He explained that the normal procedure is to finish investigations before making an arrest. However, Sowore failed to show up as promised.

“Throughout yesterday, he did not report, and we will do everything within the law to get him arrested, investigated, and prosecuted,” Jimoh said.
