China has called on other countries to respect Nigeria’s independence after the United States threatened possible military action.
The Chinese government expressed full support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, praising Nigeria for following its own path of development based on its national needs.
Speaking at a press conference in Beijing, the spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning, said that China stands firmly with Nigeria as a strategic partner.
She warned against any attempt by foreign powers to interfere in Nigeria’s internal affairs, especially using religion or human rights as excuses to impose sanctions or threaten military action.

The warning came after reports that the US government, led by President Donald Trump, had threatened to send troops to Nigeria over claims of persecution against Christians.
China emphasized that every country has the right to handle its internal issues without outside interference.
