The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria’s North Central Zone has asked the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the ruling APC.

The call was made by the APC North Central Zonal Secretary, Adamu Mohammed Yakubu, who praised Wike for his performance as FCT Minister but said he was surprised that Wike is still in the PDP.
“When Wike was appointed as FCT Minister, we were happy because of his past record and how he handles projects.
We knew things would improve,” Yakubu said during a chat with journalists in Abuja on Thursday.
Yakubu described Wike as a capable leader but said it is strange that he remains in the opposition while serving in a ruling party’s government.
“He is doing an excellent job and is an experienced politician,” Yakubu added.
He explained that any minister serving in an administration automatically represents the ruling party.
“That’s why we have an issue—he is in the PDP, but he’s part of the APC government,” he said.
Yakubu urged Wike to officially join the APC and lead the party in the FCT. “We are appealing to him to come over. The PDP is on life support, and Wike is the only one keeping it alive. Once he joins APC, the PDP will collapse,” he declared.
He said the FCT chapter of the APC would fully support Wike if he decides to join. “He has transformed Abuja like never before. We will give him 100 percent loyalty,” Yakubu promised.
However, he also asked Wike to include APC members in the FCT administration even if he remains in the PDP. “If he decides not to join us, he should still work closely with APC members, just as the president worked with him,” Yakubu said.

He concluded by saying Wike’s political experience would be a big asset to the APC if he chooses to defect. “If he joins us, we will celebrate him,” he said.
