The Federal High Court in Abuja has received a medical report from the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) confirming that Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is healthy enough to continue his trial.
The assessment, ordered by Justice James Omotosho, followed differing opinions from doctors representing both the defence and prosecution. According to the panel’s findings, Kanu’s condition is not life-threatening, clearing the way for proceedings to continue.
With no objections from either legal team, Justice Omotosho ruled that the trial will proceed, granting Kanu six consecutive days from October 23 to present and conclude his defence. The court also approved a request from his counsel for better facilities to support trial preparations.
This development has sparked renewed attention across Nigeria’s political scene, alongside reports such as Kenneth Okonkwo’s call for INEC action in Bayelsa and Peter Obi’s message to Nigerians.
