Romelu Lukaku Speaks Out on Father’s Funeral Dispute

Belgian football star Romelu Lukaku
has spoken out about the heartbreaking situation surrounding his late father’s funeral.
The former Manchester United and current AS Roma striker revealed that he and his brother,
Jordan Lukaku, are unable to bury their father, Roger Lukaku, due to a family dispute and alleged extortion
in DR Congo.

Roger Lukaku, who passed away on 28 September 2025 at 58, was a former Zaire and Belgian league player.
According to Romelu, several individuals have refused to release their father’s body, demanding money before allowing
its transfer to Belgium for burial. “It breaks our soul not to lay him to rest,” Lukaku wrote, expressing
his frustration over the delay.

The brothers initially planned to bury their father in Belgium, but the ongoing family conflict has forced them to consider
alternative arrangements in Kinshasa. Fans across the world have flooded social media with messages of sympathy
and support for the striker.
