Several soldiers are feared dead and others injured after fighters from the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) attacked a military base in Ngamdu, Borno State, early Friday morning.
According to reports, the terrorists invaded the base around 2 a.m. and opened fire on soldiers on duty.
Following the attack, the military reportedly blocked the Maiduguri–Damaturu highway, leaving many travelers stranded.

Some of the injured soldiers were taken by ambulance to the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital in Damaturu for treatment.
Security sources say the attack caused heavy casualties, though the exact number of soldiers killed or wounded has not yet been confirmed.

Authorities have not released an official statement about the incident.
